History

The Cottage table Company was founded over thirty years ago by husband and wife team Tony and Jackie Cowan. Tony’s obsession with woodworking began at Harvard, where he made his first table while doing his undergraduate studies in Philosophy. They based their first designs on farm tables that Jackie grew up with in Ireland. Over time, The Cottage Table Company introduced new designs in a variety of woods, creating thousands of original, one-of-a-kind tables hand built for their unique clientele. After many years of success, the Cowans decided to retire and hand-picked a young enthusiastic successor.

Michael Ammon began apprenticing for Tony in December of 2007. For all his life, Michael has been surrounded by craftsmen. He has worked in a variety of fabrication shops, from his family’s welding business, to a furniture manufacturing shop in Tel Aviv. Michael has developed a keen eye for design and a devout love for preserving old world craftsmanship. While apprenticing for Tony, Michael wanted to make sure the integrity of the business lived on after Tony retired.
